Administration Decries 'Democratic Hoax' as Further Jeffrey Epstein Photos Released
House Democrats have made public a new tranche of what they termed "alarming" images from the property of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, featuring notably Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The initial drop of 19 photographs—some of which have been previously circulated—combined with another 70 released later on Friday represent a tiny fraction of the approximately 100,000 images released to the House investigative panel, which is looking into the conduct and connections of Epstein.
The fallen money manager died by an apparent self-inflicted death in a New York detention cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking charges.
Notable Figures in the Images
Among the notable figures seen in the first release are celebrities featuring film director Woody Allen; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, creator of the Virgin business group.
Donald Trump is pictured in three of the first nineteen images. In one, he is photographed with six women, whose faces are redacted.
Administration Statement
The White House responded to the release in a statement, accusing Democrats of purposefully "choosing" the photographs for political purposes and to "try and create a false storyline."
"This Democratic fabrication against President Trump has been time and again refuted," a presidential representative said, insisting that "the Trump administration has done more for Epstein's victims than Democrats have ever done by consistently demanding openness, releasing thousands of pages of records, and urging additional probes into Epstein's liberal connections."
Panel Member Statement
The photographs were published without context, but according to a California Democrat and senior member of the oversight committee, they prompt further inquiries about Epstein's connections to affluent people.
"It is time to stop this White House obfuscation and bring justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he stated in a statement.
The disclosure of these materials coincides with the House panel pressing on with its probe into the affair.
