Apprehensions Executed in Connection to Massive Illegal Rubbish Dump
Two men have been detained as a component of an investigation into the illegal deposit of thousands of tonnes of waste in a field in Oxfordshire, England.
Authorities stated that a man in his late sixties was detained at a dwelling in Andover, Hampshire, while a 54-year-old was taken into custody in Slough in relation with the huge pile of rubbish dumped near Kidlington, Oxfordshire.
These apprehensions occur a week after a prior revelation which uncovered the presence of more than 500 illegal sites throughout the country of England, featuring at least 11 so-called "large-scale sites" bigger than 20,000 metric tons.
A representative for the regulatory agency said that the apprehensions were for environment-related and proceeds of crime violations and were a "crucial step" in active probes. The apprehended men have been set free on conditional release.
Scale of the Situation
The tipping ground in the Kidlington area, positioned between the river Cherwell and the A34 highway, is estimated to hold about 21,000 tonnes of waste in a heap which is up to 150m (490ft) in length and 6m (20ft) tall.
This pile of waste is consists of what looks to be processed household rubbish, fragmented plastic materials, expanded polystyrene, automobile tires and other household articles.
It represents just a single of 517 unlawful dumps throughout England, at minimum 11 of which hold over 20,000 metric tons of garbage. These feature a 280,000-tonne site in the county of Cheshire, two 50,000-tonne areas in Lancashire and Cornwall county and a 36,000-tonne dump in the county of Kent.

An enforcement officer for the national environmental crime division said that the authority would be aiming to recover the remediation costs under confiscation acts from any party ultimately prosecuted at the conclusion of its active inquiry.
She further stated that this week's apprehensions would help "move the inquiry forward" and permit officials to "follow more avenues to understand exactly what happened and who was involved".

A senior official praised the detentions, commenting: "This illegal dumping of rubbish at this location is disgraceful and has caused considerable harm to the natural world and anguish to the nearby population.
"The authorities is dedicated to eradicating this type of crime in the nation, by augmenting resources to combat illegal dumping, employing more personnel and enacting stricter measures and sanctions for those who break the regulations."
The apprehensions were carried out on a recent Thursday by officers from a dedicated organised crime team and follow an previous detention of a 39-year-old from the Guildford area area in the autumn. He was set free awaiting further enquiries.
