Wilfried Nancy declared he had no concerns about dismissal, asserting, “The team is really close to changing our fortunes,” in the wake of sliding worryingly close to being fired with a heavy defeat by Rangers.

A Second-Half Capitulation Sees Old Firm Defeat

The home side had led the visitors at the break but a disastrous second period let Rangers to draw level on points with the reigning league title holders. The French coach, who was hired from Columbus Crew, has now presided over six setbacks in his last eight fixtures.

Protest On Display

“Really, Really Close”

Nancy continues to cling to the fact Celtic can perform strongly for one half at a time. In fact, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they might have been more than 1-0 up. “There were positives other than the fact that we missed more goals,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I must remain balanced.

“The standard we had at certain moments was exceptionally high. That happened. And I would not say that if it was untrue. Therefore, regarding outcomes, I said we've seen this before. That’s why I said that a change is coming to things turning around. Right now: the fine margins.”

“There were plenty of positives that we did, once more. The issue now is performing for 90 minutes. My narrative would change if I didn't believe it. This is why I am a big believer we will manage to fix this.”

Röhl’s Cautious Stance

Rangers manager played down talk of a serious challenge despite what felt like a statement victory. “One match at a time, then we can develop something here,” he said. “The faith in the group is immense.”
