A campaign is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of artists contributing to Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The song features a combination of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The reality in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
