Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their first championship series since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for our team, the city, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now slugged 23 post-season home runs, placing him third on the list after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another player in the world that I'd choose in that spot except for Springer with his October magic," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, remain the one club never to appear in a championship series.

Manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this game," he continued.

Toronto won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
