Vince Gilligan Shares He Has a Plan for How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... At the Moment.

Vince Gilligan did not foresee that his new science-fiction series would turn into a massive hit. “God bless the fans,” Gilligan says. “I did not foresee the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

With the first season of the popular program coming to an end—and Season 2 already in development—the writers' room opened up about the audience reaction and whether it will shape the future direction of Pluribus.

About the Incredible Viewer Reception

One could easily to get distracted by the constant speculation and fan theories surrounding Pluribus. The creator is making a conscious effort to ignore the noise.

“It feels like force fed something incredibly sweet and being in a state of bliss,” he describes. “It's the greatest thing, but I learn of it from others, and that's intentional. Never in my life looked myself up on the internet, nor do I ever want to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a rabbit hole I know I would fall into and then I'd be never leaving the house from Home Depot and I'd be stuck in my living room.”

In spite of his concerted efforts, there’s no escaping the immensely favorable response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to accept it graciously and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“It is not our goal to tailor anything,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not influenced by online forums.”

“We prefer to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan adds.

A Pressing Query: Does the creator Have a Plan for the Finale of Pluribus?

Considering the writers aren’t being guided by public opinion, does that mean they have mapped out how Pluribus will finally conclude? Essentially yes… with some caveats.

“We have some interesting ideas about the ultimate destination,” Gilligan reveals. “yet we stand ready to discard a decent plan for a more brilliant plan. This approach has served us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we conceive of something superior and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Then again, if they hit a wall, executive producer Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to fall back on.

“I constantly suggest that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll pull back at the end and we're in there,” Smith quips, “but no one is buying it.”

Then again, why not reference the classics?

“I'd love for Carol to wake up in bed next to Bob Newhart,” Gilligan adds, smiling.

Pluribus can be watched on Apple TV+.
